What data we use

This is the plain-English version: what we collect, why, who helps us process it, and what you can control. It's a summary for quick understanding — the full, governing detail is in our Privacy Policy, and cookies are covered in the Cookie Policy. AirportDate is operated by AI Lora.

What we collect, and why

• Account essentials— email, date of birth (to confirm you're 18+) and phone number (to verify a real person). Required to have an account.
• Profile— your name, photos, bio, what you're here for, and optional fields you choose to add. This is what other members see. Sensitive fields (like sexual orientation) are optional and added only with your explicit consent.
• Approximate check-in location — the airport, and at most the terminal/zone you tell us. We do not track your precise GPS by default.
• Device location (only if you turn on “Nearby”) — used in the moment to sort people by distance, then discarded. We don't store your GPS, and other members are only ever placed at airport level.
• Verification selfie— a live selfie checked against your profile photo to confirm it's really you (and to estimate that you're an adult). The selfie is processed for the match and then deleted— we don't keep the image.
• Boarding pass scans — if you scan one, we read the flight details and then delete the image.
• Activity & content — your trips, check-ins, likes, matches, messages and reports, so the core features work.
• Payment info — handled by Stripe; we never see or store your full card details.
• Technical & analytics data — basic device/usage data to keep the Service secure and working; product analytics only if you opt in.

Who processes it for us

We use a small set of trusted providers, each only for its job: Supabase (database, auth, storage), Vercel (hosting), Resend (email), Stripe (payments), OpenAI (boarding-pass reading, moderation and optional AI writing help), AWS Rekognition (the selfie match), Aviationstack (flight status), Open-Meteo (airport weather), and PostHog / Sentry (opt-in analytics and error monitoring). The Privacy Policy lists what each one receives.

What we never do

• We don't sell or rent your personal data.
• We don't track your location in the background or “all the time.”
• We don't keep a history of who was physically near whom.
• We don't fabricate or seed activity — counts you see are real.
• We don't use your data to build advertising profiles.

Your controls

• Consent Centre — grant or withdraw optional permissions anytime in Settings → Consents.
• Go invisible— one tap ends your discoverability instantly, and it's always free.
• Download your data — export a copy from Settings.
• Delete your account — a hard delete, not just a hide.

How long we keep it

We keep data only as long as we need it for the purpose above or to meet legal obligations. Check-ins and trips age out; selfies and boarding-pass images are deleted after processing; deleting your account removes your data. The Privacy Policy has the specifics.
